Volna have completed the signing of Pavel "PashaBMW" Tishchenko, making the 20-year-old the fifth member of the Kazakh organization's first Counter-Strike lineup. The move comes two days after Kometa announced they were ceasing operations, leaving PashaBMW and his teammates without a team.

PashaBMW joined Kometa in April 2021 as the face of a new project and spent close to two years with the organization. Across 224 maps he averaged a 1.33 rating, the highest on the team, and led Kometa to four titles: IronWar and the third Funspark ULTI Europe regional series in 2021, then ESEA Advanced Season 41 and CCT Central Europe Series 1, where he was also named MVP. In his first year with the organization he was also among the EVPs at EPIC League CIS, the StarLadder CIS RMR, and IEM Fall CIS.

The closest Kometa came to a bigger breakthrough were runner-up finishes in ESL Challenger League Seasons 40 and 42, and the team's final appearance at Winline Insight Season 2 in December also ended with a loss in the grand final.

Volna were founded in December by a group of Kazakh investors and are run by general manager Askar Nurgaliyev, who told HLTV that the organization had been in contact with PashaBMW since before Kometa's closure was made public.

"We wanted one player in the team who has already won big tournaments and knows what it takes," Nurgaliyev said. "Pavel was our first choice for this role. The other players are young and hungry, and we believe that with his experience they can develop much faster."

PashaBMW joins a young core that was assembled in December around in-game leader Egor "brizer" Kuzmin. The lineup also features 19-year-old AWPer Ruslan "Shtorm" Sadykov, 18-year-old entry fragger Bekzod "m0rik" Murodov, and support player Andrey "Zefir" Fedotov. The team will be coached by Daniyar "daniko" Seitkali.

"Kometa closing was sad, we had a good time together and we won some trophies," PashaBMW said. "But I want to keep playing at the highest level I can, and Volna showed me that they are serious. The team is young, but I already played some practice with them and I like how they work."
