Stat check: What PashaBMW would bring back to Volna
The Russian's last season on record was one of the best of his career, but almost two years without official matches leaves a question mark that no number can answer.
With Volna confirming talks with Pavel "PashaBMW" Tishchenko this morning, the obvious question is what the Kazakh organization would actually be getting. The player who left the team in December 2024 was a seven-time MVP with a 1.32 career rating over 699 maps, but the last time he played an official map was in November 2024.
We took a look at the numbers from his last season on record to see how they hold up.

The last season
PashaBMW did not slow down in his final year with Volna. Across 136 maps, he averaged a 1.39 rating with 97.3 ADR, 0.89 kills per round, and a KAST of 77.6%, while posting an average round swing of +4.27%. He rated 1.00 or higher on 88.2% of his maps and won 63.2% of his opening duels.
For context, his career rating stands at 1.32, and his rating in 2023, his first season with Volna, was 1.33. Whatever the reasons for his departure, declining form was not one of them.

The big matches
The numbers did not drop when the stakes went up. In playoff matches in 2024, PashaBMW averaged a 1.44 rating, and across 12 grand final maps he posted 1.57.
His only big LAN, YaLLa Compass 2024 in Abu Dhabi, remains the best example: a 1.55 rating over 11 maps, the highest at the event, and the MVP medal on top.
The dependence question
The flip side is how much Volna leaned on him. In two years with the team, PashaBMW's rating was 30% higher than the Volna average. In 2024, in-game leader Egor "brizer" Kuzmin finished the year at 0.83, AWPer Ruslan "Shtorm" Sadykov at 1.10, Bekzod "m0rik" Murodov at 1.03, and Andrey "Zefir" Fedotov at 0.83.
That gap is part of the reason Volna let him go, with the organization keen at the time to build around its younger players. It is also the reason a return makes sense on paper: none of the four have played an official match since, and the team that won YaLLa Compass did it with PashaBMW as its centerpiece.
The question mark
What the numbers cannot measure is the effect of almost two years without official matches. PashaBMW has kept playing on FACEIT and has practiced with a mix at a bootcamp in recent weeks, but neither is a substitute for competitive play, and the game has moved on since November 2024.
Players returning from long breaks rarely hit the ground running, and any team signing PashaBMW now would also be starting from scratch in the Valve Regional Standings. The first months of a comeback would likely be spent in online qualifiers and smaller tournaments, the same circuit he left.
"I know that after two years the first tournaments will not be easy," PashaBMW told HLTV earlier today. "But I don't want to come back only to play."

If his last season is any guide, the individual quality is unlikely to be the problem.
